Randy Petty

Board President

Randy Petty is a well-known presence in Clovis, New Mexico. He co-owns Clovis Furniture Exchange & Mattresses Too! with his wife Jamie and is an Associate Real Estate Broker at the Waters Group with Town and Country Real Estate. He is also the father of four children and grandfather to eight. Randy’s connection to Norman Petty runs deep, his father David went to school with Norman and later worked for him as the general contractor on the Main Street Mesa Theater Recording Studio that Norman moved to in 1969. While not related to Norman Petty, as a child Randy assumed that they were family with the amount of time Norman and Vi Petty spent at his home on weekends and holidays. Among Randy’s prized possessions is a childhood gift from Norman Petty, a Murph Guitar used in recording sessions by George Tomsco of The Fireballs.

Johnny Mulhair

Johnny Mulhair is a producer, guitar player and lifelong resident of Clovis, New Mexico. Johnny’s band Apple-Glass Cyndrom recorded with Norman Petty at his 7th Street Studio in 1969. That recording has gone on to be a classic of the psychedelic era. Since then, Johnny has had a long and illustrious career as a guitar player and record producer. Most notably with his multi-platinum production work with LeAnn Rimes that took place at the Norman Petty Studio on Main Street in Clovis. You can regularly find Johnny performing in Clovis and on the road with the many acts he works with.

Jay Parmenter

Board Member

Jay Parmenter first met Norman and Vi Petty in 1977 while working for Robert Linville and Homer Tankersley at Tankersley’s Clothing in Clovis. Norman Petty fans will know Robert as a member of The Roses and Homer as a solo artist. Both recorded with Norman Petty. With friends like that Jay was quickly brought into the family. In 1986 Jay joined the Norman Petty Studio restoration team as they set about returning the original 7th Street studio to its former glory. The restoration spurred on by the BBC and Paul McCartney who would be filming “The Real Buddy Holly Story” in Clovis in 1987. Since then, Jay has been a dedicated volunteer studio tour guide at the Norman Petty Studio where he has greeted guests from around the world.

Mark Saha

Board Member

Mark Saha grew up in cotton country along the Texas Gulf Coast, earned a BA at the University of Notre Dame, and attended film school at UCLA. Mark is a Hollywood film and TV writer most known for his work on the TV series Mod Squad, Emergency! and Peyton Place. Mark met Norman Petty when both were involved in a project about Buddy Holly on the Universal lot in 1973.  The close friendship that arose between them endured until Petty's death in 1984. Mark is a lifetime member of Writers Guild of America, and lives in Santa Monica, California.

Ron Skinner

Board Member

Ron Skinner is a Producer and Recording Engineer from Toronto, Canada. He has worked with thousands of Canadian and International recording artists over his thirty-year career as Music Producer / Recording Engineer for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He is the owner of a Mastering and Music Mixing studio and has worked on Grammy nominated and Canadian Juno winning and nominated projects. Ron also works as the Audio Engineer and Digital Archive Manager for Norman Petty Studios.
