Our Goal
The mission of Friends of Norman Petty, Inc. is to promote and preserve the legacy of Norman Petty in his capacities as a recording engineer, producer, music business executive, songwriter, and musician, as well as to underscore the significant contributions of his wife, Vi.
The organization seeks to support the preservation of the historic 7th Street recording studio in Clovis, New Mexico, an important site in American musical history. Currently maintained as a museum, this facility displays period equipment, instruments, artifacts, and memorabilia.
Through potential endowment, the entity may lease and manage the museum, ensuring the ongoing presentation of exhibits, facilitating tours, and continuing public education regarding the studio’s history, notable events, and the renowned artists associated with it. Additionally, the organization aims to advocate for Norman Petty's recognition by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Above all, the primary objective remains to narrate and promote Norman Petty’s story through all available means, honouring his remarkable achievements in the music industry, disseminating the influential music he created, and highlighting the enduring impact he made on the world.
